Young dulcimer-player from the Republic of Moldova, living in Hungary

Ivan studied music at the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Lyceum in Chisinau, Moldova, then graduated at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, Hungary (Master Degree) and started his PhD there in 2022. His main instrument is the dulcimer (cimbalom), secondary are the piano and the accordion.

He mainly plays classical-contemporary and Romanian-Hungarian folk/gypsy music, but has also been involved in gypsy jazz, pop, music for cartoons/theater pieces, experimental and contemporary music projects, and is always eager to dive into new genres.

Ivan has been awarded first prize at a number of international music competitions.

Common Routes is the first international artist residency that he participates in.
